Incubator Farm Program
KNOX’s Hartford Grown Headquarters Urban Farmer Incubator Program (UFIP) is working to cultivate the next generation of urban farmers. Our Urban Farmer Incubator Program (UFIP) provides training in business planning, production and marketing over the course of a growing season. New farmers who can demonstrate the necessary skills and experience may apply to launch their farms at KNOX’s Hartford Grown Headquarters, where they receive access to land, equipment, and infrastructure at reduced rates.
KNOX’s UFIP provides new urban farmers with access to land, infrastructure, equipment, and one-on-one support during the first few years of farm business start-up. Incubator farm plots are located alongside KNOX’s Demonstration Farm, allowing staff to keep an eye on these fledgling farms and to be present for time sensitive questions and consultations. Regular mentoring and technical assistance from the Farm and Grounds Manager provides new farmers with a path to productivity and profitability of their practices.
