BF106 – Vegetable Production with Jude Boucher

Free Training for Beginning Farmers held at KNOX!

This course will focus on the basics for soil testing and soil health, cover crops, choosing crops to grow, field preparation, season extension, an equipment wish list, marketing, weed management options, diagnostics for plant problems, disease management, insect management and pesticide application. We will cover some annual pest problems for several common vegetable crops.

Trainer – Jude Boucher, Commercial Vegetable Crops Educator, UConn Extension

Jude’s teaching expertise in the areas of integrated pest management (IPM), sustainable agriculture, entomology, plant pathology, vegetable production, reduced-tillage. He is the coordinator of the Full season Vegetable Crops IPM Training Program, coordinating weekly or bi-weekly on-farm trainings. He received his B.S. in Entomology from University of New Hampshire(1979), M.S. in Entomology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute(1986), and his Ph.D. in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut(2003).
